Hi! I’m Caitlin Farrington, MS, LPCC, NCC.
She | Her | Hers
I earned my Master of Science (MS) degree in Counseling and Human Development from South Dakota State University in 2013. I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and have had my license since 2018. I’m also recognized as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Previously, I have worked in the mental health field in a variety of settings including K-12 schools, universities, in the community doing ARMHS work, and in an adult day treatment program prior to moving to outpatient therapy.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is… forming therapeutic relationships with clients where we can hold space for the difficult parts of life and find a path forward together toward individual goals. I believe an authentic relationship is built on nonjudgment, understanding and validating feelings, and finding ways to bring lightness and humor into coping with challenges. I feel honored clients feel safe and empowered to make changes through the therapeutic relationship we build.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:
Are coping with grief and loss in all forms
Are experiencing anxiety or depression symptoms that are impacting their life
Are hoping to explore their identity and increase understanding of the self
Are navigating transitions in life
I have a special interest in:
Perinatal mental health
Issues that affect parenting including coping with struggles with fertility, pregnancy loss, and adjusting to different stages of parenting
Working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community
Working with young people who are navigating concerns related to relationships, school, and career
I am passionate about:
Empowering clients to understand themselves and make changes they would like to see in life
Making therapy a safe space for all and making the therapy process as tailored to individual needs as possible
Decreasing stigma and increasing access to mental health care especially in marginalized communities
On Personal Note
Outside of work, I love exploring new places locally and through travel with my husband and son. I am a life-long musician and find joy and healing through all kinds of music. I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, and connecting with friends and family.
