Hi! I’m Jayna Lundgren, MA
She | Her | Hers
I earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University in 2022. I am currently working towards my license in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) under the supervision of Dr. Tina Shah PsyD, LP.
I have been working in the mental health field since 2017 in various roles. This has included providing in-home mental health services to adults as well as providing counseling services at a college counseling center.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is building trusting and authentic relationships with my clients, which can promote growth and healing. My core goal is to create a safe, collaborative and empowering environment that provides acceptance and compassion while taking strides towards one’s own desired change. I strongly value my clients’ personal experiences, perspectives and knowledge in their therapeutic journey. I strive to provide a space that is accepting of individuality and reinforces living in accordance with my client’s own values. I am honored to be supporting clients through building off of their inner strengths to continue creating a foundation towards healing.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:
Are experiencing challenges with anxiety and/or depression
Have difficulties with body image/shame
Are hoping to explore various aspects of their identity, including racial or cultural components of their identity
Are having difficulty navigating interpersonal relationships
Are navigating various life transitions
I have a special interest in:
Working with adoptees
Working with young adults
Working with individuals who are exploring the impacts of generational and relational trauma
Understanding relational patterns and the impact of our early relationships on present ones
I am passionate about:
Working with individuals who identify as BIPOC and/or have diverse backgrounds.
Improving mental health support accessibility and destigmatization
Helping clients recognize and access their strengths in order to develop skills that can be used outside of sessions, as well as identifying their values and passions.
On Personal Note
As an Indian adoptee who grew up in the suburbs of MN, I have become familiar with the impact of intersecting identities. My personal experiences help me to understand my clients who are working towards discovering, honoring, and accepting their various identities.
Outside of work, I absolutely love traveling. I enjoy spending time with loved ones, reading, spending time outside, and listening to podcasts. You can also find me learning how to make new recipes, though, how they turn out can be quite questionable.
