Hi! I’m Samer Habib, MED
He/Him/His
I earned my Master of Education (MEd) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Pennsylvania State University in 2022. I am currently working towards my license in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) under the supervision of Dr. Tina D. Shah, PsyD, LP.
I rounded my expertise in counseling young adults and adults by working at the Edwin L. Herr Clinic and the Counseling and Psychological Services at Pennsylvania State University. I have also provided individual and group therapy services to adult clients through different private practices in Egypt, as well as the Center for Student Well-being at the American University in Cairo.
My favorite part of this work
The one thing I enjoy the most about being a therapist is building profound and genuine relationships with my clients where they can safely explore their emotions, and progress towards personal growth. I feel grateful for the trust they place in me and honored to witness their transformative journey as they navigate the complexities of their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to see clients gain insight into their emotional and thinking patterns, unravel the roots of the stories they’ve internalized about themselves, and cultivate a deeper understanding of their own selves.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:
Grapple with the loss of a loved person, pet, relationship, or job
Frequently engage in self-criticism, often compounded by perfectionist tendencies
Encounter difficulties in their relationships, whether it be with partners, family, or friends
Work on adjusting to new environments and situations
Carry the weight of past and generational traumas
I have a special interest in:
Arab American population
Immigrants and children of immigrants
International students
Individuals with marginalized identities
I am passionate about:
Holding a safe space where individuals can develop a more empowering and compassionate view of themselves, and create new meanings to their life experiences
Collaboratively exploring and understanding the unique experiences and identities of each individual
Advocating for mental health awareness and reducing the stigma associated with seeking therapeutic support among marginalized communities both in and out of the therapy room
Addressing the impact of societal and systemic factors on mental health, fostering discussions around social justice and equity
On Personal Note
I have lived and worked in the US and Egypt at different stages of my life, and traveled to different parts of the world, which gives me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of various cultures. Outside of work, I enjoy going on walks in nature, exploring new culinary adventures in my free time, and connecting with friends both near and far. I also indulge my creative side through painting, which serves as a therapeutic outlet.
